Lenox Coffee is a specialty coffee house located in central Harlem, at 60 West 129th Street between 5th Avenue and Lenox Avenue.
Co-owners Aaron Baird and Jeffrey Green met ten years ago at Boston’s New England Conservatory of Music. After making a living making music abroad for several years, they found themselves back in New York—both in Harlem. They love the vibrant energy and life of the neighborhood, and when an opportunity arose to create a community meeting-place that served great coffee, they couldn’t resist! And thus emerged Lenox Coffee.
Lenox Coffee’s roaster is 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters, based out of British Columbia. They are fantastic! The coffee is rich in flavor and the espresso is a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. The shop itself has a rustic, old world charm—very comfortable with dark woods, redbrick walls, tin ceilings, decorative columns, and school house lights.
In addition to bringing great coffee to the community, Lenox Coffee draws on Harlem’s rich cultural history and current arts scene. Local artists display work on the coffee shoppe’s walls, and the shoppe hosts regular live performances, including poetry readings and music.
